Last October for the first time in history, the United States Postal Service issued a Diwali forever stamp that will is available for purchase (to purchase this stamp click here or visit your local USPS). This comes thanks largely due to the year long advocacy efforts of the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and Indiaspora. HAF, Indiaspora, and several other organizations approached the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee via a letter sent in November 2015 in which they outlined the history, significance and worldwide presence of the religious festival.  In addition, this letter sought to really demonstrate the importance, presence and contribution of the Indian American community.

Indian Americans, are the second largest single-race Asian group in the US (after Chinese-Americans). As a community, we are the most educated race in the US with an estimated more than 80% having a bachelor’s degree or higher (compared the the national average of 28%).
