The Cannes Film Festival is an invitation only film festival held annually in Cannes, France in May. Each year international films across the world are invited to screen and compete for the opportunity to win the Palme d’Or – the highest achievement offered at the Cannes. Although Indian films have never won this prestigious award, several have been invited to the Cannes including Salaam Bombay, Udaan, Raman Raghav 2.0, and the Lunchbox.
The Cannes became part of Bollywood banter when Aishwarya Rai [Bachan] graced its red carpet for the screening of the 2002 Sanjay Leelay Bhansali adaptation of Devdas. Since then she and other Bollywood stars have become Cannes red carpet regulars.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival did not feature any Indian films, however Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachan walked the Cannes carpet. The film festival usually occurs over several days – meaning many #OOTD and major fashion #inspo.
